Der Coupe de la Jeunesse begann am Freitag, dem 24. Juli 2026, mit den Rennen im Mix8+ und den Ersatzrennen, gefolgt von der Eröffnungsfeier vor dem Ruderhaus am Rotsee. Im Mittelpunkt der Eröffnungsfeier, die vor grossem Publikum und bei strahlendem Sonnenschein stattfand, stand der Einmarsch der Nationen. Deutschland gewann das Mix8+-Rennen bei seinem ersten Auftritt am Coupe de la Jeunesse.

Der Schweizer Ruderer Roman Röösli, Bronzemedaillengewinner an den Olympischen Spielen 2024 in Paris, nahm 2010 am Coupe de la Jeunesse teil. Obwohl er bei dieser Regatta das Feld als Letzter abschloss, markierte dies den Beginn einer herausragenden Karriere, die ihm Medaillen an den U23- und Elite-Weltmeisterschaften sowie die Teilnahme an drei Olympischen Spielen einbrachte. Er ermutigte die jungen Ruderer, ihre Erfahrung an der Coupe de la Jeunesse zu geniessen und ihre Träume niemals aufzugeben.

Die Präsidentin des Organisationskomitees, Germaine Bauer, hiess die teilnehmenden Nationen willkommen und hob die einzigartige Atmosphäre des Rotsees hervor, den sie als «Göttersee» bezeichnete. Ausserdem würdigte sie die Reservesportler und hatte die Ehre, den Mannschaften aus Deutschland, Italien und Frankreich, die im gemischten Achter auf das Podest fuhren, die Medaillen zu überreichen.

Gwenda Stevens, Präsidentin der Coupe de la Jeunesse, gratulierte allen Athleten zu der harten Arbeit, die ihnen die Qualifikation für diese Veranstaltung eingebracht hatte. Sie erinnerte sie daran, dass die Vertretung ihres Landes am Coupe de la Jeunesse bereits eine bedeutende Leistung sei, und wünschte ihnen viel Erfolg für die bevorstehenden Rennen. Anschliessend erklärte sie die Coupe de la Jeunesse 2026 in Luzern, Schweiz, offiziell für eröffnet.

Die Regatta beginnt am Samstag, 25. Juli 2026, mit den Vorläufen. Die Finalrennen des ersten Tages finden am Nachmittag statt. Das gleiche Format wird am Sonntag wiederholt, wobei die Ergebnisse vom Samstag die Setzliste für die Vorläufe am Sonntag bestimmen. Live-Streaming, Rennkommentare und eine eigene Seite mit Startlisten und Resultaten werden das ganze Wochenende über verfügbar sein.

The Coupe de la Jeunesse began on Friday 24 July 2026 with the Mix8+ races and the repechage races, followed by the opening ceremony in front of the boathouse on Lake Rotsee. The highlight of the opening ceremony, which took place in front of a large crowd and in glorious sunshine, was the march of the nations. Germany won the Mixed Eight race on its debut at the Coupe de la Jeunesse.

Swiss rower Roman Röösli, Olympic bronze medallist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, competed at the Coupe de la Jeunesse in 2010. Although he finished at the back of the field at that regatta, it marked the beginning of an outstanding career that led him to U23 and Elite World Championship medals as well as selection for three Olympic Games. He encouraged the young rowers to enjoy their experience at the Coupe de la Jeunesse and to never give up on their dreams.

Organising Committee President Germaine Bauer welcomed the participating nations and highlighted the unique atmosphere of the Rotsee, describing it as the "Lake of the Gods." She also paid tribute to the reserve athletes and had the honour of presenting the medals to the crews from Germany, Italy and France, who finished on the podium in the Mixed Eight event.

Gwenda Stevens, President of the Coupe de la Jeunesse, congratulated all the athletes on the hard work that had earned them selection for this event. She reminded them that representing their country at the Coupe de la Jeunesse was already a significant achievement and wished them every success for the upcoming races. She then officially declared the 2026 Coupe de la Jeunesse in Lucerne, Switzerland, open.

The regatta will begin on Saturday, 25 July 2026, with the heats. The finals for the first day will take place in the afternoon. The same format will be repeated on Sunday, with Saturday's results determining the seeding for the Sunday heats. Live streaming, race commentary, and a dedicated page with start lists and results will be available throughout the weekend.
